The bodyguard I Married!

Once upon a time I met my husband in 1992 at a club in New York called the Shelter (That's him behind me in the photo:). He was a bouncer and I was in the middle of my music career! We were introduced by my producer, someone I was sort of dating (we were sleeping together that's it) and I believed he introduced us for his own amusement. He thought that this guy would never have me because I was uncommitted to everything I touched. However, my producer underestimated the bouncer!
In 1992 the movie "The Body Guard" came out and my producer told me that I needed to have one. Why, I don't know but it sounded fabulous! I was so into myself I already thought I was Diana Ross, so when my producer introduced me to this big chocolate hunky mass of man as my new bodyguard I thought I was the black Madonna! I believed, that night, that he had been hired solely for me. He played the part so well. I mean he did not let anyone near me or my body and he never spoke to me which I thought was intriguing and hot!:) I was so caught up into myself I never realized that they had planned this, I thought he was really mine. I found out years later that my husband had scoped me out 2 weeks prior and asked my producer who I was. My producer told him you'll never get her, but I'll introduce you and you can try!

Well, here we are 5 years later and let me tell you getting to that alter was no easy process! I've been working on a book about my life called 7 sessions, my bodyguard story is in it as well as the insanity of myself and my music from Greenwich, Conn, to Park Avenue, to some of the lowest places in Alphabet city; hopefully I will find someone to publish it or I will do it myself. Millian my bodyguard is a major part of why I'm alive today! How he and I ever managed to get married is beyond me. We were married in 1997 and already almost 12 years have past us by. We have 5 wonderful children and I would not change one year of our lives together.

Marriage is bananas really! You find you love this person who really becomes your entire family wrapped up into one. I realized this when we moved away and left both of our families in other states a few years ago. So, not only are we all we have but, we run a business together that has taken a phenomenal hit by the economy. Prayerfully our marriage, better yet our friendship will whether this storm because my goal of goals is to celebrate our 5oth anniversary (in our right minds) like my husbands amazing parents!

In this photo is Mr. and Mrs Emmett Lewis at their 50th Wedding Anniversary!!!!!

What an amazing story! I love the movie The Bodyguard and you got to live it in real life without the extra drama of the stalker sister and the bodyguard being shot (I hope). I'm glad we had a chance to meet. Love your blog! BTW: That first pic of you and your husband is....um....wow!
