Hold your Water!

"Hold your Water." That does not have anything to do with going to the bathroom. It means to not say everything all the time to everyone about everything your going through, cause for the most part people don't want to hear it! I am going through some major events in my life but, they are all material. There are some people very close to me going through things that are very physical which make my events seem minimal.
So, I think I'm going to "Hold my Water" and not talk about my present or my future needs which seems a bit challenging right now. I'm going to tell you about stories from my juicy past and maybe a little from my book that I'm in desperate need of finishing (actually it's finished I just need an editor:)

I was in the music industry for more than two decades and it was at times very rewarding. I discovered early the hard way that I couldn't really sing but, my love for music kept me trying anyway. I was 19, in college at FIT in NY and on my way to class one day when I ran into my childhood friend Calvin Gaines (producer, writer for artist such as Lady GaGA, Destiny Child, Joe, etc.,) He said, "You still singing (we grew up singing in church)?" I said, "Sure (not quite yes)?", he says, "Why don't you come by the studio and sing on some of my tracks!" Well, I've been singing in the shower for so long I knew I could sing, I went of course and I tried. I thought I sounded like Patti La belle and Calvin sweet as he was didn't have the heart to tell me the truth, he said what people say when your not good, "Keep singing it will get better!" I know now that my singing at the time was terrible however, getting on that mic and hearing my voice on tape sealed my future! I was at that moment insanely addicted to making music. I pursued it until I was just past 40 and then I happily retired. The music ride was long, enjoyable, blunt and painful.

It was 1988, I always had an infectious way of meeting people in the industry and for the most part blended in like I was a singer (I actually had good tone, I was just tone death) until one day by surprise I was asked to join a girl group (Marsha McClurkin and Diosa Gary). When I realized I had to really sing it was to late, these girls could sang!!! I signed up with Sylvia Rhone at Atlanta Records and the group was produced by the infamous Teddy Riley. At first I thought, I prayed I could get by on my looks (not to be conceited but, this was the 80's & everybody looked good) and groups like Milli Vanilli, C&C music factory were lip sinking there way to the top of the charts; why couldn't I right? I was surrounded by some amazingly talented people, even my boyfriend at the time (Zan see pic on right) was working on his own album with Warner Bros and later was signed by Benny Medina himself! No one had time to teach me to become a singer. Eventually I was found out and got kicked out of the group with my looks and all. The experience however made me pursue music like an addict for the next 20 some odd years of my life.

Now for your entertainment I thought I'd post my first music Video Premier! I was told by many that I was the original video _ _ (I can't say it)!!! The original New Jack City girl group (that later on became "Abstract" with Mary Brown) members were on stage with Guy, I'm the last girl in the back. I am also the girl with the cut up pants dancing with Aaron Hall (around 1:08:) Enjoy and have a laugh:)

The Atlanta Girls One Year Ago Today!

I'm back, yes sometimes I just need a little hiatus:) Since I can't actually take a trip right now, I thought I would just reminisce about my Calgon take me away trip I had! Last year on this Day I was boarding a plane, I was blessed with a 14 day all expenses paid trip to Europe with The Travel Channel and Royal Caribbean Cruises! It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I got to go with my girls Askwifey and Myinnerdialogue (aka, Lorraine and Nicole) and we were lovably called The Atlanta Girls!

Alabama teen found riding on box atop van; mother charged

Albertville, Ala -- An Alabama woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police say she let her daughter ride in a box on top of their van.

Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said 37-year old Jackie Denise Knott was arrested Sunday after police received a call of a minivan traveling on U.S. 431 with a large cardboard box on top with a child inside.

Smith said the woman told police the box was too big to go inside the van, and that her daughter was inside the box to hold it down.

Smith said Knott told officers it was safe because she had the box secured to the van with a clothes hanger.

“The box was too large to get in the van, so more or less, she needed a paperweight,” said Albertville Police Officer Jamie Smith.

The Child was not hurt. She was turned over to a relative’s custody at the scene and DHR is investigating.

“For the child’s sake, more than anything, nothing turned out bad,” Smith said. “Obviously a gust of wind, an 18-wheeler passing by could have thrown the box off the top of the van. It could have turned out very bad.

I am not making light of this, well actually I am, because it is incomprehensible to me that a mother would put her child on top of her car! This article was not in the National Enquirer (not that there is anything wrong with that magazine:) where I might expect to see this; it was actually in the Atlanta Journal Constitution!!!

I'm speechless, love to hear your thoughts?
