Well I'm back from Panama City, Florida were I attended the Kids Artistic Review (KAR)! This is an amazing event where kids from all over the country represent the Dance studios they attend with their talent in tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet and hip hop. The Studios and dancers earn trophies and cash prizes!!!
The sub-culture of Dance Competitions happen all over the U.S. and in these events you meet some really great people, very talented kids, fabulous Choreographers and some coo-coo nutty pageant type moms (me included); that you warmly can't live without:)
My daughter dance's under the direction of Debbie Daniel Wells (Ms. Debbie see pic below) and her studio is The Dance Factory!
The Dance Factory won numerous awards this week including, Best Costumes, 1st and 2nd place in Primary, Secondary, Intermediate as well as Top Duet and Top Trio performances! (duet picture on right Sydney and Larken)
Our primary division was invited back to Show Case Night for their routine "Love is Good" a fabulous 40's style feel good tap number! Now, Show Case is a special night at the end of the week were the top performers are asked to come back and compete (more cash and 6ft trophies!)
Out of the top 6 primary groups THEY WON the Grand Championship for their age division (7 to 8 year olds)!!!
Also, my little Sydney was honored for her solo tap performance "I'm a Brass Band" where she placed 2nd during the daytime event and in the evening at the very prestigious Title Night Event she WON 2009 Miss Petite Dance America!!!! In this picture is "2009 Miss Dance" and "Miss Petite Dance!" Miss Dance (Francesca) informed me that she is trying out this July for Fox's "So you think you can dance" and Sydney said that Miss Dance was her best friend:)We had a wonderful week, it was filled with tears of joy and laughter!!! The girls had such a great time, between the beach and dancing you couldn't ask for a better vacation. Here they are in their award winning Best Costume for "Love is Good" I am a Dance Mom and I love it, I was Sydney's valet, personal assistant, hair and make up artist, cook, gofer, um, I'm sure I left out some titles. Now here is my Diana Ross after a long day of dance, worn out and still fabulous!
